From the Director

China’s economy has entered a critical phase in its reform and development. How to maintain its steady growth is a major challenge we face. History has shown that a healthy financial system governed by economic principles is critical to an economy’s persistent growth. Thus, to build an efficient financial system for China, in particular, to develop well-functioning financial markets, institutions and intermediaries and to improve corporate governance structure is the central tasks of China’s current economic development.

The China Center for Financial Research, Tsinghua University, is devoted to high quality research to support the development of China’s financial system. We will introduce and apply the theories, methodologies, applications and technologies of modern

finance to the practical problems encountered in China’s financial development. Through our research, we hope to provide theoretical and empirical support in shaping China’s financial policies, developing and managing its financial markets and institutions, and shaping up the corporate governance structure. We will also develop a set of high level education and training programs by international standards to meet China’s urgent needs for high quality researchers and educators in finance.

We hope to develop the Center into a top notch, open research platform. We welcome broad collaborations with universities, research institutions, government agencies, financial institutions and enterprises at home and aboard.
